Online store websites

In short: Oneway Web Design builds custom online stores for Australian small businesses at a fixed price, with their own cart and checkout rather than a rented template. The Coin Shop in Bundaberg is live and taking orders with gold and silver prices updating across the top of every page, and Cosmo Lighting in Kensington runs a full custom store with checkout on Shopify.

What is different about a custom store?

It loads like a fast static site, because it is one: the pages are built ahead of time and only the cart, stock and checkout talk to a server. That is how The Coin Shop shows live spot prices for gold, silver, platinum and palladium across the top of every page and still loads quickly on a phone.

Checkout runs on Stripe or on the client's existing Shopify, whichever suits, and on a Stripe build the owner gets an admin page to edit every listing, add stock and change the wording without touching code; on a Shopify build you keep Shopify's own admin. Welcome codes, postage rules and free-shipping thresholds are set up to match how the business actually sells.

What can an agent do for an online store?

On the Signature tier a store can have custom agents built for how it runs. For Cosmo Lighting that meant a stock-supplier agent that checks the suppliers' feeds and a postcode delivery agent that works out what shipping to charge. Those are built for each business, not bolted on from a plugin directory.

Prices are the same fixed tiers as every Oneway site: $800, $1,700 and $2,500, hosting included. Which tier a store needs depends on what it sells and whether it needs agents; that is decided on the call and quoted in writing.

Questions people ask

How much does an online store cost?

The same fixed tiers as any Oneway site: $800, $1,700 or $2,500, agreed in writing before the build. Which tier a store needs depends on what it sells and whether it needs custom agents, and that is decided on the first call.

Can I keep my Shopify checkout?

Yes. Cosmo Lighting's custom store keeps checkout on the client's Shopify while everything the customer browses is a fast custom build. Stripe is the other option, which The Coin Shop uses.

Can I edit products myself?

Yes. On a Stripe build the store comes with an admin page where you edit every listing, add new stock and change page wording without touching code. On a Shopify build you keep Shopify's own admin.
